Published 8 September 2014

Digiweb Group announced today that it had acquired Web Drive Limited and received a significant investment from Pencarrow Private Equity. Web Drive operates a number of hosting and domain name brands throughout New Zealand, including Web Drive, Openhost and Domains4Less. Web Drive provides cloud hosting services and domain name registration services to SME's, corporates and digital web agencies throughout New Zealand.

"The acquisition of Web Drive will create a combined group with over 26% of the New Zealand domain name market and a leading position in the web hosting market in New Zealand" said Robert Rolls, Commercial Director of Digiweb.

Daniel Williams, Director of Web Drive, stated "With our goals for the business achieved, it's come time for us to pass the torch for the next phase of the company's growth and we're excited to have chosen Digiweb as that torchbearer. We're very much looking forward to seeing where they take the company and the incredible team we've put together over the years."

The enlarged businesses now manage over 170,000 domain names and look after over 40,000 customers with tens of thousands of web sites across hundreds of high availability virtual servers for our ever expanding national and international brands.

Adrian Grant, Managing Director of Digiweb, commented that "over the past two years we have invested significantly in expanding our infrastructure footprint and service layer. This has enabled us to provide for customers who wish to remove the risk and capital cost of managing their IT, cloud and hosting services. As part of this transaction, we are also acquiring a new data centre in Albany, Auckland, that will give us the capacity to cater for larger enterprise clients."

Mr. Rolls also pointed out that "Our new partnership with Pencarrow will provide the capital required to further invest in our data centres and networks, as well as enabling us to look at further consolidation opportunities both in New Zealand and Australia."
